Department of Plastic and Hand Surgery at University Hospital Freiburg offers surgical care for patients with diseases that require reconstructive treatment. The department is one of the first facilities of its field in Germany. Disturbed shape and body functions that result from trauma, congenital anomaly or a disorder are restored and improved by the department with its experienced staff and state-of-the-art equipment.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. med. G. Björn Stark, the department treats more than 1,000 inpatients every year. The research unit of the department is constantly working towards improving the diagnostics and therapeutics as well as conducting studies on the areas of tissue engineering, transplantation rejection as well as soft tissue tumors.
