Department of Otolaryngology (ENT) at University Hospital Freiburg provides the care required for patients with diseases affecting the ear, nose, throat as well as head and neck. The department has a special focus directed towards hearing loss and deafness and offers high-quality cochlear implantation in the Implant Center Freiburg. Head and neck tumor is also another great specialty of the department as it is a part of the Comprehensive Cancer Center Freiburg and one of the 12 pioneering medical facilities in Germany of this field.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Andreas Knopf, the department of otolaryngology treats more than 5,200 inpatients every year. The department is in cooperation with the Department of Neuroradiology to detect the size and exact location of tumors to improve the outcome of the removal surgery. The computerized surgical navigation is also a special feature of the department that help enhance the chances of better outcome.
