Department of Nephrology

Department of Nephrology at University Hospital Freiburg provides care for patients suffering from renal diseases and arterial hypertension. The department is one of the pioneering facilities in the field of congenital kidney diseases in Germany and is well-recognized for its experience and success in the kidney transplantation area. It is also considered as one of the best transplantation centers for post-operative care as it provides care for more than 1,200 outpatients after kidney transplantation every year.   
The department of Nephrology treats more than 1,400 inpatients every year under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Gerd Walz and has a special modern full-equipped station for dialysis. It also consists of 18 beds with a medical staff present around the clock to provide the best treatment for patients.
