German Heart Center Berlin is an advanced medical institution that is highly experienced and specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of the full range of cardiovascular diseases of all ages. The center was established in 1986 and ever since it has reached great achievements and earned the reputation of one of the best medical facilities of its specialization in Germany and Europe. The center offers the highest level of medical care through the latest state-of-the-art diagnostics and therapeutics for patients. The department was the first center to perform implantation of an artificial heart system as well as a hybrid intervention on the heart. The center has 7 modern operating theaters, including a hybrid room and another for endovascular surgeries. The center carries out over 7,000 cardiac operations and more than 3,000 surgical interventions using the heart-lung machine every year. Of those procedures, 100 of which are the heart and/or lung transplants and nearly 600 are for the treatment of congenital heart defects. The center treats nearly 8,000 inpatients and over 25,000 outpatients every year.
