Department of Cardiology at German Heart Center Berlin offers care for patients with congenital, acquired, acute and chronic diseases of the cardiovascular system. FOCUS Magazine considers the department as one of the best facility in Germany that is specialized in the treatment of heart diseases. The department offers its inpatient and outpatient service for the full spectrum of diseases of the heart, circulatory system, and blood vessels. The department is known for its high-level medical care as it is up-to-date with the latest research findings and advances. The main focuses of the department are the catheter treatment of coronary heart diseases, peripheral vascular diseases, heart arrhythmias, and heart failure. The department is supplied with the cutting-edge diagnostics and therapeutics for all diseases, even those requiring complex interventions.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. med. Burkert Pieske, the department treats over 2,700 inpatients and over 12,000 outpatients every year. The department also treats patients with concomitant diseases such as hypertension, lipid metabolism disorders, kidney failure and diabetes mellitus as it also affects the heart and blood vessels. The department has a specialized Chest Pain Unit for the early detection and treatment of angina patients.
