Department of Urology at University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf provides medical care for patients suffering from urological diseases and disorders. The cooperation with the Oncology department and the UCCH makes this department a special center for tumor therapy. The department of urology at UKE, together with the Martini Clinic is known for performing the largest number of therapeutic radical procedures for prostate cancer patients in all of Europe. The department is considered to be one of the top medical institutions for prostate cancer in Germany.
With Prof. Dr. Med. Margit Fisch as the head of the department, more than 3,500 inpatients get treated in this department every year. The department of urology at UKE has a great reputation in the field of urological oncology. The operating rooms are supplied with cutting-edge equipment as the Da Vinci robot system as well as operating microscopes. Thanks to that and the qualified medical staff, the department scores especially high results in the oncology field. The department also takes part in some extraordinary surgeries in North Germany as holmium laser surgery in prostatic enlargement.
The department has special attention directed towards pediatric urology as it’s a certified facility of the European Association of Pediatric Urology. The cooperation it has with the Department of General Surgery and Gynecology secures its place as a member of the Pelvic Floor Center.
