Department of Pediatric Surgery at University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus Dresden provides surgical care for infants, children, and adolescents with congenital and acquired diseases. The department follows the latest national and international surgical guidelines to offer high-quality surgical interventions for abdominal, urological, oncological and thoracic diseases and has been certified with Ausgezeichnet für kinder. Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Guido Fitze, the department performs over 2,000 interventions and treats around 1,900 inpatients every year. The department takes pride in its minimally invasive procedures as they reduce bleeding and complications and improves the outcome of interventions. Minimally invasive interventions are used for appendectomy, cholecystectomy, pediatric nephrectomy and diaphragmatic hernia treatment.
