Department of General Pediatrics at University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus Dresden provides care for infants, children, and adolescents with congenital and acquired diseases. The department is fully equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostics and therapeutics for the management of various pediatric diseases. The department is a certified center for Allergy, Cystic Fibrosis, Rare Diseases, and Palliative Medicine by the Ausgezeichnet für kinder and offers its service at a high and modern level.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Reinhard Berner, the department treats about 5,400 inpatients every year. The main focus of the department is the treatment of tumors and blood diseases as it has specialized outpatient clinics for hemophilia, hemangiomas and infectious diseases. The department has the Social Pediatric Center where patients are examined and treated on an outpatient and inpatient basis depending on the severity of the disease. The medical team of the center composes of different specialists such as psychology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and internal medicine.
