Department of Endocrinology and Diabetology at University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus Dresden provides care for patients with endocrinal glands diseases and diabetes mellitus. FOCUS Magazine has ranked the department as one of the best medical facilities in Germany for the treatment of diabetes mellitus. The department has an exceptional team of specialists and nurses along with state-of-the-art diagnostics and therapeutics techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of metabolic and hormonal diseases such as diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, and thyroid, pituitary, adrenal and growth disorders.
The department is headed by Prof. Dr. Med. Lorenz Hofbauer and also consists of an Osteoporosis Center which is certified by the umbrella organization for osteology. The research unit of the department conducts studies on the biology of the bone and what mechanisms underlie bone metabolism.
