Department of Neurosurgery

Department of Neurosurgery at University Hospital Tübingen provides surgical care for patients with diseases of the central and peripheral nervous systems. The department has an experienced medical team that has assets to treat the full range of neurological diseases and it is the leading center for interventions regarding the treatment of skull, pituitary gland, and peripheral nervous system diseases. The department directs special attention to the diagnosis and treatment of brain tumors where the treatment plan developed is specifically made for each patient depending on the site of a tumor, histological structure, neurological symptoms, and patient age, all according to the international standards and protocol.
The department has a general ward of 75 beds where over 2,800 inpatients are treated and 5 state-of-the-art operating theaters where around 3,000 operations are performed every year under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Marcos Tatgiba. The Pediatric Neurosurgery Center of the department is a multi-disciplinary center where specialists of neurosurgery and other pediatric departments work together to ensure patients get optimal care.
