Department of Neurology
Department of Neurology at University Hospital Tübingen provides care for patients with congenital and acquired diseases of the central and peripheral nervous systems. FOCUS Magazine has recognized the department as one of the best facilities in Germany for the treatment of multiple sclerosis and Parkison’s disease. The department is fully equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostics and therapeutics for the management of the full spectrum of neurological diseases. The department is divided into specialized units for the management of different diseases such as Neurovascular Disorders, Cognitive Disorders, Neurodegenerative Diseases, Epileptology, and Neurooncology.
Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Med. Thomas Gasser, the department treats about 5,000 inpatients and performs over 2,500 investigations every year. The research unit of the department has ongoing clinical studies on ataxia, epilepsy, dystonia, Parkinson's disease, and multiple sclerosis. The department also has an intensive care unit where stroke patients are treated and monitored.
