Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at University Hospital Tübingen provides care for females regarding their reproductive organ diseases and pregnancy as well as newborns. FOCUS Magazine has recognized the department as one of the best facilities in Germany in the field of obstetrics and mammalogy. Females of all ages i.e. prepartum, during pregnancy, and postpartum are offered the medical service of the department on both an outpatient and inpatient basis. The department directs special attention towards the tumors of the reproductive organs and breast as it is certified by the German Cancer Society. The department is equipped with the full range of diagnostics and therapeutics for the management of inflammatory and neoplastic diseases such as endometriosis and cervical dysplasia.
The department consists of 119 beds where more than 11,750 inpatients are treated annually under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Diethelm Wallwiener. In addition, the obstetrical unit of the department delivers about 3,000 births and performs over 9,000 surgical interventions every year. In the field of obstetrics, the department also provides the patient with prenatal diagnostics, consultations, detection, and management of high-risk pregnancy.
