Department of General Pediatrics, Pediatric Hematology and Oncology

Department of General Pediatrics, Pediatric Hematology, and Oncology at University Hospital Tübingen provides care for infants, children, and adolescents with acute and acquired diseases as well as blood disorders and neoplastic diseases. The department is considered to be one of the best facilities for the treatment of diabetes mellitus in children in Germany, according to FOCUS Magazine. The department offers its inpatient and outpatient service for those with inflammatory and neoplastic diseases of the internal organs as well as blood cells. 
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Rupert Handgretinger, the department treats over 2,000 inpatients every year. Prof. Handgretinger, as well as the department, are recognized as international pioneers in the field of stem cell transplantation for leukemia patients. The department has the main focus directed towards the management of congenital diseases such as cystic fibrosis, diabetes mellitus type 1, and bronchial asthma. The department also offers solid organ transplantation surgeries.
