Department of Hematology, Internal Oncology, Nephrology, and Hypertensiology at University Hospital Augsburg provides comprehensive care with the highest national and international standards for the management of tumors, malignancies of the blood, diseases of the kidneys as well as high blood pressure. The department has been certified as an Oncological Center by the German Society for Hematology and Oncology (DGHO). To ensure optimal care for patients of benign and malignant tumors, as well as blood diseases, the medical staff works in close cooperation with the Interdisciplinary Cancer Center Augsburg (ICCA). A specialized team of physicians offers all types of blood stem cell transplantation, including allogeneic, autologous, and umbilical cord transplantation, in the specialized unit.
The Nephrology and Hypertensiology unit consists of 22 inpatient beds where about 6,000 inpatients are treated every year, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Martin Trepel. Working in close cooperation with the center of the Kuratorium for Dialysis and Kidney Transplantation, the nephrological-internal intensive care unit with its 11 ventilation places and 12-bedded-dialysis station, carries out the full range of dialysis.
