University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein is categorized among the largest medical facilities in Germany and Europe with its two locations in Kiel and Lübeck. The hospital is the maximum medical care center in northern Germany with its specialized centers, exceptional medical staff and cutting-edge equipment. The hospital not only offers patient care but it’s also included into many research projects in all areas and is a recognized training center for many specialties. Thanks to the many specialized centers and departments, the hospital offers medical care for the full range of diseases, both congenital and acquired, for all age groups. Both inpatients and outpatients receive care of the highest level as the hospital has a bed capacity of 1095 beds where about 51,000 inpatients are treated and it also consists of over 85 clinics where 162,300 outpatients are treated and 3,400 outpatient operations are performed annually.
