Both inpatients and outpatients receive care of the highest level as the hospital has a bed capacity of 1095 beds where about 51,000 inpatients are treated and it also consists of over 85 clinics where 162,300 outpatients are treated and 3,400 outpatient operations are performed annually. UKSH is also the largest employer and training provider in Schleswig-Holstein as it has over 14,000 employees and trains hundreds of doctors ever year in the specialized departments.
