Department of Dermatology at University Hospital Muenster provides the medical care needed by patients with inflammatory, allergic, autoimmune and infectious skin diseases. This department is one of the leading medical facilities for Dermatology in Germany in the field of congenital and acquired skin diseases. This department is certified by the German Cancer Society as skin cancer is one of the key focuses of this department. The department is well-known for its quality care. Common types of skin cancer as basal cell carcinoma and rare types as hemangioma are all treated with the utmost care and professionalism in this department. The department is also established as a certified Center of Excellence for both the treatment of chronic pruritis and venous diseases.
Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. med. Kerstin Steinbrink, the department treats more than 4,000 inpatients every year. The Central Study Coordination for Innovative Dermatology has 3 certified investigators and 9 study assistants focusing on the process of diseases and how to best treat them. The main fields of study are Psoriasis, Lupus Erythematosus, Hay Fever, Keratoses, and Skin Cancer.
