Department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at University Hospital of Giessen and Marburg provides care for infants, children, and adolescents with organ cancer and blood diseases. The department has a remarkable reputation in the field of benign and malignant diseases as it has cutting-edge diagnostics and therapeutics, including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and stem cell transplantation. Working with the Center for Transfusion Medicine and Hemotherapy provides specialists to carry out the procedure of stem cell transplantation.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Dieter Körholz, the medical team follows the national and international guidelines of the Society of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology for the treatment of 1,200 patients every year. In the field of the treatment of oncological diseases, the department offers advanced multidisciplinary management approaches and is one of the few medical institutions in Germany to perform proton therapy.
