Department of Neurology

Department of Neurology at University Hospital of Giessen and Marburg provides care for patients with acute and chronic diseases of the central and peripheral nervous systems. The medical staff of doctors, nurses, speech therapists, and physiotherapists treat over 2,800 inpatients and 3,500 outpatients every year. The department consists of an intensive care unit, an intermediate care ward, a stroke unit, a general ward, and an outpatient clinic.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Manfred Kaps, the department works in close cooperation with the departments of Neuroradiology and Neurosurgery to ensure specialist care throughout the whole management process of certain diseases, such as multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, motor disorders, and Parkison’s disease.
The Department of Neurology at University Hospital of Giessen and Marburg is specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of:
