Department of General Pediatrics at University Hospital of Giessen and Marburg provides care for infants, children, and adolescents with congenital and acquired diseases. Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, kidney, joints, metabolic balance, respiratory tract, and lung are diagnosed and treated by the remarkable medical team of the department.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Klaus-Peter Zimmer, the department treats about 3,200 inpatients every year, 500 of which are growth disorders patients. The department follows the national and international guidelines of the general pediatrics centers. The research unit focuses on the development of vaccines and other preventive measures of diseases.
