Department of Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery at University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein offers the highest level of care for accident patients and patients with diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Certified by the German Society for Trauma Surgery as a national Trauma Center, the facility has the full range of diagnostics and therapeutics as well as operating theaters where specialist surgeons perform over 2,000 operations every year. The main areas of focus include arthroscopic surgery, pelvic injuries, hand, plastic and microsurgery, bone and soft tissue tumors, joint fractures, spine medicine as well as spine surgery.
The Pediatric Orthopedics unit provides therapy for the vast spectrum of pathologies such as club feet, hip dysplasia, malformations of the spine, dystonia, spastic diseases as well as muscular dystrophies. Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. med. Andreas Seekamp, joint replacement surgeries are provided for 3,300 inpatients annually, both total or partial joint replacement.
