Department of Neuropediatrics

Department of Neuropediatrics at University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein provides the full range of the diagnosis and treatment measures of diseases and disorders of the central and peripheral nervous system as well as the muscles for infants, children, and adolescents. The clinic also offers outpatient consultation as well as social rehabilitation within the Social Pediatric Center. Cooperating with the North German Epilepsy Center for Children and Adolescents allows the department access to the latest, state-of-the-earth diagnostics and therapeutics for better management of epileptic patients.
The EEG (electroencephalogram) station offers the most advanced techniques such as simultaneous video double image recording and long-term EEG with and without video monitoring. Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. med. Andreas van Baalen, the medical team works in close cooperation with experts in general pediatrics, pediatric cardiology, neurosurgery, neuroradiology, orthopedics, and urology to treat over 750 inpatients annually.
