Department of Dermatology, Venereology, and Allergology at University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein provides medical care for patients with skin conditions, sexually-transmitted as well as allergic diseases. The medical team has made significant achievements in the management of skin cancer as it works within the Skin Cancer Center Kiel with specialists of the Departments of Ophthalmology, Maxillofacial Surgery, and Otolaryngology to ensure optimal care for the 2,500 patients annually. The Psoriasis Center is one of the largest facilities for the treatment of psoriasis in both Germany and Europe.
The center works in close cooperation with the specialized departments since psoriasis often targets different organs with the skin such as the Department of Angiology, Gastroenterology and the Department of Nephrology and Hypertension. Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. med. Thomas Schwarz, the medical staff treats over 4,000 patients every year, some of which suffer from neurodermatitis. The Neurodermatitis Center is an interdisciplinary center where the Departments of Pediatrics, Pulmonology, Internal Medicine, Allergology, Ophthalmology, and Otorhinolaryngology work closely together.
