Department of Pediatric Cardiology

Department of Pediatric Cardiology at the University Hospital Saarland offers care in the form of diagnosis and treatment for patients within the age of 10-18 years. The department provides service in a family-friendly atmosphere for all disorders and abnormalities of the cardiac system, heart and major blood vessels, concerning children and adolescents.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Hashim Abdul-Khaliq, the department treats 826 inpatients and more than 10,000 outpatients annually. More than 130 congenital heart surgeries are performed on children and adolescents every year. The department co-operates with the Department of Pediatrics and Neonatology, Pediatric Oncology and Hematology, Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. 

Department of Pediatric Cardiology at the University Hospital Saarland is specialized in:

•    Diagnosis & treatment of all congenital heart defects starting from the 3rd month of pregnancy
•    Non-invasive cardiac diagnostics
•    Functional analysis of the myocardial function
