Department of Nuclear Medicine

Department of Nuclear Medicine at the University Hospital Saarland is the largest medical facility for nuclear medicine in South-West Germany. The department is concerned with the treatment and examination of organs for the early detection of diseases and dysfunctions.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. med. Samer Ezziddin, the department treats more than 500 inpatients every year. Highly experienced doctors and staff with state-of-the-art medical equipment ensure optimal care for patients. An important examination is the diagnosis of sentinel lymph nodes (lymph nodes affected by cancer). As for treatment, an important method is radioactive drugs that can harm the cancerous cells without harming normal healthy cells.
