Department of Internal Medicine I - Oncology, Hematology, Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology at the University Hospital Saarland offers care in the form of diagnosis and treatment for patients with conditions related to cancer, hematopoietic system, immunologic and rheumatic disorders. Highly experienced doctors and staff with state-of-the-art medical equipment ensure optimal care for patients.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Stephan Stilgenbauer, the department treats more than 2,500 inpatients every year. The department has specialized doctors with great experience in the field of bone marrow and stem cell transplantation. 
In the treatment of malignant tumors, the department cooperates with the needed specialized departments of the hospital. Management plans are custom-made for each patient according to the severity, type, and location of the disease. The department has an impressive history of research activities. The department also has a German Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma Study Group which is one of the leading study groups in the aggressive lymphoma field worldwide. The group came up with therapy methods that enhanced the outcome of treatments.
