Department of Internal Medicine III - Cardiology, Angiology, and Intensive Care Medicine at the University Hospital Saarland offers care in the form of diagnosis and treatment for patients with disorders of the heart, blood vessels and any condition requiring intensive care unit.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. med. Michael Böhm, the department treats more than 4,000 inpatients annually. The department consists of 80 beds in the regular ward, the intensive care unit, and the intermediate care ward. The department performs about 5,000 interventions a year.
The department has a unit specialized in treating arrhythmia as well as a Heart Failure unit. Specialized units for such common dangerous conditions with highly experienced doctors, staff and state-of-the-art medical equipment ensure optimal care for patients. Along with the University Vascular Center and Department of Vascular surgery, the department treats all diseases concerning blood vessels.
