Department of Obstetrics and Reproductive Medicine

Department of Obstetrics and Reproductive Medicine at University Hospital Jena provides care for pregnant women as well as newborns. It is divided into few centers where the full range of obstetrical medicine is offered. The department offers the management of pregnancy, precautions in case of high-risk pregnancy, and the diagnosis of prenatal diseases. 
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Ekkehard Schleussner, the department treats nearly 3,700 inpatients and carries out over 1,000 deliveries every year as it is composed of 4 modern delivery rooms, fully supplied with the latest equipment and special beds to ensure mothers and babies get the optimal care needed. The department has been certified by DEGUM I and II for the diagnostic equipment it has which allows for high-quality screening and imaging leading to accurate and early detection of developmental abnormalities as well as therapeutic interventions in the womb.
