Department of General Pediatrics

Department of General Pediatrics at University Hospital Jena provides care for infants, children, and adolescents with congenital and acquired diseases. According to FOCUS Magazine, the department is considered to be one of the best facilities for the treatment of diabetes mellitus in children. The department offers its state-of-the-art diagnostics and therapeutics for the management of acute and chronic pediatric diseases and It is mainly concerned with pediatric oncology, hematology, nephrology, neurology, endocrinology, and metabolic disorders. The department is certified with DIN EN ISO 901 certificate and in the Thuringia area, it is the only University Pediatric Center that provides maximum care.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. James Friedrich Beck, the department treats more than 3,000 patients every year. The department is also in cooperation with the Department of Pediatric Pulmonology where the cutting-edge equipment is shared and used to develop the optimal care plan for each patient. The department is supplied with the technology and medical staff that enables it to treat patients with critical conditions with utmost care
