Department of Dermatology at University Hospital Jena provides care for patients with inflammatory, infectious, allergic, neoplastic, and autoimmune skin diseases as well as sexually-transmitted diseases. The department has been providing medical service on both an outpatient and inpatient basis for over 100 years and it consists of a specialized center for hives as well as skin cancer that is certified by the German Cancer Society.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Peter Elsner, the department treats over 1,850 inpatients every year. The department in close cooperation with various specialists to provide optimal care for patients. The department is equipped with the most advanced diagnostics and therapeutics for the management of different skin conditions such as eczema, urticaria, melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, and systemic lupus erythematosus.
