Department of Neurorehabilitation at Neurological Rehabilitation Center RehaNova Cologne provides the full range of care for patients in the form of rehabilitation for all neurological and neurosurgical clinical presentations as well as complex conditions. The department mainly focuses on rehabilitation for brain infarctions, both acute and chronic forms. It also deals with intracranial hemorrhages, traumatic injuries of the brain, neoplastic and infectious diseases. The department consists of an intensive care ward, a home ventilation respiratory center, a rehabilitation ward and a center for the treatment and rehabilitation of patients with brain injury and paraplegia. Under the guidance of Priv.-Doz. Dr. med. Kathrin Gerbershagen, the department offers all types of rehabilitation measures such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, therapy of the language and speech disorders and neuropsychological therapy.
The Department of Neurorehabilitation is specialized in the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients with:

• Polytrauma
• Brain damage
• Brain circulatory disorders
• Malignant and benign tumors of the brain
• Polyneuropathy
• Spinal injuries

- 2000-2004 Assistant Doctor at the Department of Neurology of the Barmbek Clinic (Hamburg) and at the Department of Psychiatry at the Itzehoe Clinic.

- 2005-2017 Medical Specialist in Neurology in Merheim Clinic, in her last position as Leading Senior Physician.
