Department of Trauma Surgery and Orthopedics (KH) at University Hospital Stuttgart is a maximum care center, located in the Catherine Hospital, offers conservative and operative care for patients with injuries and disorders of the musculoskeletal system. The department has been selected by the German Society for Trauma Surgery as the National Trauma Center as it’s one of the few facilities that receive large numbers of helicopter landings and seriously injured patients. Due to the exceptional medical team working in close cooperation with other specialist departments who use state-of-the-art diagnostics and therapeutics, the department treats over 2,000 inpatients every year.
As a part of the Stuttgart Spine Center (SCC), the clinic has been certified as the first Level I - Spine Center for maximum spinal surgery care in Baden-Württemberg, under the guidance of Prof. Dr med. Christian Knop, who was listed as one of the best doctors in Germany in the field of spinal and trauma surgery. The medical staff performs the full range of joint replacement surgeries in case of joint wear, accidents, or surgeries such as shoulder, knee, and hip arthroplasty.
