Department of Trauma Surgery at University Hospital Regensburg offers surgical care for patients with diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system. The department is the only center of maximum care for the region of Lower Bavaria and Upper Palatinate for all age groups as it's involved in the Pediatric Trauma Reference Center. Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Michael Nerlich, the medical team treats over 1,800 inpatients every year using the latest, most advanced equipment and instruments.
The General Accident Surgery Center is the largest and most significant unit of the establishment where over 150 severely injured patients with polytrauma receive care every year. As the nucleus of the trauma network in eastern Bavaria, the medical staff provides special consultations for spinal surgery, shoulder injuries, and pelvic and hip surgery. The Center for Musculoskeletal Sarcomas and Tumors is mainly concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant tumors of the musculoskeletal system.
