Department of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) at University Hospital Regensburg provides conservative and surgical care for patients with ear, nose, and throat diseases as well as malignancies of the head and neck. The department offers the full range of medical services on both an inpatient and outpatient basis in the fields of head and neck tumor surgery, middle and external ear surgery, nasal and sinus surgery as well as cochlear implantation surgery. The Head and Neck Tumor Center, composed of the department and the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, is in the structure of the University Regensburg Cancer Center and the Comprehensive Cancer Center East Bavaria (CCCO), one of the largest centers in Germany specialized in oncology. The Head and Neck Tumor Center has gained the certification of the German Cancer Society as it has the latest diagnostic and therapeutic methods and studies to ensure optimal care for patients.
Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Med. Christopher Bohr, the medical team treats about 3,500 inpatients every year, many of which suffer from vocal cords injury. The Bavarian Cochlear Implant Center Regensburg-Straubing is the oldest and most experienced center in the region as it offers early detection of congenital hearing impairment, effective treatment by cochlear implantation, and rehabilitation for patients post-operatively.
