Department of Internal Medicine III (Hematology and Oncology) at University Hospital Regensburg provides care for patients with diseases and malignancies of the blood as well as solid tumors. As a part of the modern interdisciplinary Center for Drug Tumor Therapy, the facility offers chemotherapy according to the latest guidelines and under the supervision of specialists. The department is a Certified Center for Integrative Oncology and Palliative Medicine by the European Society for Medical Oncology, the leading European Organization of Medical Oncology. The Coagulation Center Regensburg has achieved impressive success with the help of the medical team in the field of clotting disorders treatment.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Wolfgang Herr, the facility has a total bed capacity of 32 beds where the staff treats over 1,100 inpatients every year. The department is in cooperation with the Leukemia Help Eastern Bavaria for the treatment of all types of leukemia and with the Graft versus Host Competence Center Regensburg for transplantation procedures.
