Department of Psychiatry and psychotherapy

The Rechts der Isar’s Department of Psychiatry and psychotherapy consists of four wards with about 75 beds and a day clinic. They offer services in an out-patient care. In addition, they offer consultation and counseling services and are in close cooperation with the other disciplines.

The department participates in the complete spectrum of modern evidence-based therapeutic approaches from pharmacotherapy to psychotherapy and special therapies such as electroconvulsive therapy. In addition, they have a neuropsychological and a sleep medicine laboratory. They specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety disorders, dementia, schizophrenic psychosis, sleep disorders, personality disorders and mental disorders due to underlying physical disorders. The department handles about 1349 cases of general mental and psychosomatic disorders, 215 cases of recurrent depression, 156 cases of schizophrenia, 114 cases of depression episodes, 103 cases of sleep disorders and so many other cases of mental illnesses.
