The gynecological department at the University Hospital Rechts der Isar is headed by Prof. Dr. med. Marion Kiechle. The department provides patients with optimal therapy based on the latest scientific findings and state-of-the-art technology. In addition, they offer complementary medicine in form of naturopathy as well as psychological support. The focus of the department is on antenatal care, childbirth, hormone replacement therapy, and fertility treatments. They also perform conservative and surgical gynecology, including the treatment of some types of tumors. In the area of obstetrics, they pride themselves as being one of the safest maternity clinics in Germany. The close integration of physicians, researchers, and colleagues from other disciplines at the university hospital enable patients to benefit quickly from new diagnostic and therapeutic researches.
The department of gynecology at the University Hospital Rechts der Isar has three operating rooms with state-of-the-art equipment, especially in the field of minimally invasive and robotic surgery, as well as plastic microsurgery and fetal surgery with technical knowledge. Their healthcare team is comprised of 18 senior physicians, 25 assistants, and medical specialists as well as nurses, midwives, and specialized nurses. The doctors of the department treat around 5,000 inpatient and more than 14,000 outpatient cases each year. Almost 2,000 children are born each year in their four delivery rooms. The department also offers a range of specialist services which include interdisciplinary collaborations in the treatment of cancer, naturopathic and complementary medical treatments as well as sound psychological support.
The gynecological department at the University Hospital Rechts der Isar is specialized in:
- Breast Cancer Diagnosis
- Genetic counseling and testing for familial cancer
- Gynecological endocrinology (hormonal replacement therapy, osteoporosis, menstrual disorders, and contraception)
- Treatment of breast cancer, ovarian cancer, uterine and cervical cancer, vulvar and vaginal carcinoma
- Operative gynecological oncology
- Oncological follow-up
- Operative gynecology including minimally invasive surgical procedures
- Obstetrics and antenatal care, including obstetrics, prenatal and perinatal medicine, non-invasive and invasive prenatal diagnostics
- Emergency treatment of bleeding, coagulation disorders and septic complications in gynecological and obstetric patients
