Department of Phoniatrics and Pedaudiology

The Department of phoniatrics and paedaudiology at Hannover Medical school was only in 1993 separated as an independent branch from otolaryngology by a decision of the German Medical Association. It is one of the youngest specialist areas in Germany. It is a specialty where both surgery and conservative medicine is practiced in the same department but it’s mainly conservative.
This department provides care for those with voice disorders, perception disorders, speech development disorders, acquired speech and language disorders. The department under the leadership of Prof. Dr. med. h.c. Martin Ptok is affiliated with the School of Speech Therapists. It offers Integrated Pedaudiological complex treatment for more than 100 patients annually.
