Department of Pediatric Surgery

The department of pediatric surgery at Hannover Medical school provides top quality service for children who need surgeries. Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. med. Benno Ure, 2,000 operations are performed annually on children of any age, from premature babies to 16-year-old adolescents. Nearly 140 vascular operations and 90 intracranial injuries are performed every year.

The department is composed of two large surgery units equipped with modern necessary instruments needed for the surgeries they perform. The department has about 36 beds for the children and 15 more for their parents. More than 50 doctors provide care to over 1,000 patients every year who are in need of surgeries. These doctors are members of the Centre of Surgery at Hannover Medical school. The same goes for the other members of the Centre of Surgery, they can also operate on children and adolescents when needed.
