Department of Pediatric Pulmonology, Allergology, Diabetology, Rheumatology and Neonatology

Department of Pediatric Pulmonology, Allergology, Diabetology, Rheumatology and Neonatology at Hannover Medical school provides care for the full spectrum of diseases affecting children’s respiratory system, immune system, diabetes mellitus, and rheumatic diseases. The head of the department, Prof. Dr. Med. Gesine Hansen together with the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics also managed to form Level I Perinatal Center.
The department has special units dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes mellitus. Juvenile DM is the most common type of disease that the department treats. In addition, children and adolescents with immune system defects are offered the entire service to help them lead as healthy life as possible. This department is one of the largest centers for the treatment of immunological diseases in Germany.
About 1,400 patients a year seek the care offered by the Rheumatology Center in the department. This is due to the advanced diagnostics and innovative treatment of all forms of rheumatic diseases. 

Department of Pediatric Pulmonology, Allergology, Diabetology, Rheumatology and Neonatology at Hannover Medical school is specialized in:
