Department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology

Department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at Hannover Medical school provides care for children and adolescents with malignant tumors and blood diseases. This department is one of its kind in Lower Saxony for children and adolescents. Following the latest and best treatment protocols, this department treats children and adolescents with all kinds of tumors of the blood and lymphatic system. The blood disorders that are common among this age group are also being treated in this department like coagulation, erythrocyte, platelet, granulocyte, and lymphocyte disorders.

With Prof. Dr. med. Christian Kratz as the head of the department and the qualified professional staff of doctors and nurses, it cares for more than 800 inpatient and 5000 outpatient cases every year. The department dedicates a part of its resources and focuses on stem cell transplantation as a therapeutic method for malignant and non-malignant tumors.
