Department of Orthopedics

Department of Orthopedics at Hannover Medical School is one of the largest and most recognized facilities in Germany specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Henning Windhagen, the medical team follows the international standards of orthopedics and offers the highest level of care for over 41,000 patients annually.
The department has its own X-ray department as well as its own laboratory to ensure patients get the fastest and most accurate diagnosis. The facility works in close cooperation with the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care to provide the most suitable therapy for patients with critical conditions or those with diseases that require surgical interventions. It also has inpatient stations made of 178 beds to provide post-operative care.
The Department of Orthopedics at Hannover Medical School is divided into a few specialties where experts and the needed equipment are provided to offer optimal care for patients. These divisions include:
