Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology

The department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hannover Medical school is one of the best departments of the hospital. That’s because it’s being led by Prof. Dr. Med Peter Hillemanns who is ranked among the top specialist in the fields of his competence by Focus magazine.

This department takes care of all diseases related to female productive organs and the breast. Inflammatory diseases, tumors, abnormal cell growth, hormonal disbalance, and psychological illnesses. The department consists of modern and reliable diagnostic tests for gynecological diseases. More than 300 women with breast cancer seek treatment at the gynecological department of MMH.  The department is certified by the German Cancer Society and the German Society of Senology. The doctors of the department provide the most advanced medicinal and surgical treatment of breast cancer.
A great focus is also on uterine, ovarian and cervical tumors. Specialized doctors and experts come together once a week in a board to review each clinical case, paying attention to all the details, and discuss the top-quality care program they can provide for each patient. About 650 patients were treated for benign and malignant tumors of different parts of the reproductive system last year.
The obstetrical unit of the department pays a special amount of attention to deliveries. It has more than 1500 births a year. Management of pregnancies, safe births, post-delivery care and treatment of any defect in the previously-mentioned categories are all provided by more than 40 specialized doctors.
