Department of Thoracic, Cardiac, and Vascular Surgery at University Medical Center Göttingen works in close cooperation with the Departments of Oncology, Cardiology, and Pneumology to provide full medical care for patients with diseases of the heart, lungs, and vessels. Under the guidance of Director Prof. Dr. med Ingo Kutschka, the center treats over 1,000 inpatients and performs 2,500 operations every year as it consists of 66 beds for regular use, 20 beds for intensive care, and 12 beds for intermediate care.
The medical staff offers the entire spectrum of cardiac, pulmonary, and vascular surgical operations, particularly stent implantation, video-assisted techniques, robot-assisted surgical, and minimally invasive procedures for heart valve reconstruction. Since the department follows the latest guidelines of the ISO 9001:2015 and has achieved excellent results and success, it has been certified by the German Society for Cardiology.
