Department of Neurosurgery

Department of Neurosurgery at University Medical Center Göttingen provides operative treatment of diseases affecting the central and the peripheral nervous systems. The clinic is one of the largest facilities of its specialty in Germany with three ultra-modern operating theaters where the medical team performs over 3,000 operations every year. Under the guidance of Director Prof. Dr. Veit Rohde, the department is in strong cooperation with the Lippoldsberg Rehabilitation Center that helps manage over 5,000 outpatients and 2,000 inpatients annually. The staff has achieved impressive results in the treatment of the vascular diseases of the central nervous system, both congenital and acquired conditions.
The German Society of Neurosurgery has the clinic for its efforts and success in the fields of pain therapy, motion disorders, as well as spinal neurosurgery. As a member of the Excellence Initiative, the facility is equipped with the latest, state-of-the-art diagnostics and therapeutics, staffed with a medical team full of experts and specialists, and also works in close cooperation with the Göttingen Cancer Center.
