Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology at University Medical Center Göttingen is a significant member of the Göttingen Cancer Center that provides the full range of medical care for patients with benign and malignant tumors and blood pathologies. The medical staff follows the latest national and international guidelines and research results to ensure patients optimal care for over 1,000 inpatients with lymphomas, myelodysplastic syndrome, and leukemia every year.
The facility has the most advanced, cutting-edge equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of the full spectrum of blood diseases and neoplasms, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and stem cell transplantation. The research unit carries out basic research and clinical studies, under the guidance of Director Prof. Dr. Lorenz Trümper. The main focuses of research activities are malignant lymphomas, mechanisms of tumor metastasis as well as myelodysplastic syndromes.
