Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Allergology

Department of Dermatology, Venereology, and Allergology at University Medical Center Göttingen offers medical care for patients with the entire spectrum of skin, sexually transmitted, and allergy-related diseases. The main focus of the clinic is the most common skin diseases such as psoriasis, neurodermatitis, and leg ulcers. The medical staff treats over 3,000 inpatients and 2,500 outpatients of tumors, venous disorders, and autoimmune diseases of the skin in the three inpatient wards for and one outpatient ward. The allergy unit is a part of the Comprehensive Allergy Center that provides the full range of diagnostics and therapeutics to manage patients who are suffering from or suspected of allergic diseases.
The medical staff carries out benign and malignant lesions removal surgeries in modern operating theaters for outpatients and inpatients. In cooperation with the Department of Rheumatology, the department excels in the treatment of the arthritis manifestation in psoriatic patients as it follows the guidelines of the German Dermatology Society, the German Cancer Society as well as ADO Working Group Dermatological Oncology. Operating under the guidance of Director Prof. Dr. Michael P. Schön, the Dermatohistological Submission Laboratory of the department has been certified as a European training center for dermatopathology.
