Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at University Hospital Würzburg is the main center in Mainfranken that provides care for patients with reproductive organ diseases as well as pregnant women and newborns. As a certified facility by the German Cancer Society, the department has achieved excellent results in the treatment of ovary, uterine, cervix, and breast cancer. The specialized Breast Center of the facility is a member of the Comprehensive Cancer Center Mainfranken and offers the latest diagnostics and therapeutics for 600 patients annually.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Achim Wöckel, the medical team treats over 6,800 inpatients every year using minimally invasive procedures for many interventions. The department offers its obstetric service at the Center for Mother and Child, where management of pregnancy and detection of high-risk pregnancy are available, along with the delivery of over 1,300 births a year. Due to the efforts of the medical staff who works in cooperation with the Department of Endocrinology, the fertility unit has made impressive achievements.
