Department of General, Abdominal, Transplant, Vascular, and Pediatric Surgery at University Hospital Würzburg provides surgical care for patients of all ages with diseases of the abdominal organs and blood vessels. The department is a part of the Center of the Operative Medicine Center at Oberdürrbacher Street and is also a significant member of the Comprehensive Cancer Center Mainfranken. The facility offers its service for infants, children, adolescents, and adults for the full spectrum of visceral and vascular diseases with significant focus directed to the treatment of tumors as a certified Visceral Oncology Center by the German Cancer Society.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Christoph-Thomas Germer, the medical team treats around 6,000 inpatients every year, many of which have inflammatory and neoplastic diseases of the digestive tract and organs that are managed in the gastrointestinal function lab. The department also has a certified Obesity Center for the treatment of morbidly obese patients and a multi-disciplinary Liver Center for the treatment of liver and gall bladder diseases, including transplantation surgeries. The stations offer the latest, most advanced diagnostics and therapeutics as well as minimally invasive procedures for the treatment of vascular diseases, pediatric disorders, hernias, and endocrine glands diseases.
