Department of Endocrinology and Diabetology at University Hospital Würzburg provides care for patients with diseases of the endocrine glands as well as diabetes mellitus as one of the top facilities in Germany in the field of treatment of diabetes mellitus and hormonal imbalance disorders. The department has been caring for patients with complicated hormonal diseases for 25 years now, especially common diseases such as diabetes mellitus, thyroid disorders, and osteoporosis, and it also has been awarded the title of the European Reference Center for adrenal carcinoma and adrenal insufficiency.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Martin Fassnacht, the medical staff of the seven endocrinology outpatient units treats over 9,000 patients every year. The research unit works in close cooperation with national and international centers that help enhance the research results.
