Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Infectology

Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Infectology at University Hospital Tübingen provides care for patients with diseases of the digestive tract and organs as well as infectious diseases. The department is in close cooperation with the Center for Personalized Medicine, Center for Gastrointestinal Oncology, Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Comprehensive Infectious Disease Center Tübingen. The department is equipped with the most advanced cutting-edge diagnostics and therapeutics for the management of the stomach, intestine, liver, and pancreatic diseases.
Under the guidance of  Prof. Dr. med. Nisar Malek, the department treats over 2,800 inpatients every year, 200 of which are diagnosed with biliary tract stenosis. The department takes pride in its minimally invasive procedures such as endoscopic interventions of both diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. The department also offers consultations, examinations, and development of a treatment plan on both an outpatient and inpatient basis.
